When I sat down to start reflecting on my year, everything started to blur together. It’s crazy how much you can do and change within such a short amount of time; this year was no exception. Luckily, my phone is my visual diary and has taken me back through some of the most memorable moments of this year; pictured above. To start the year off was the trip to Melbourne with Bayley and Zara. It’s pretty surreal to be able to travel to a different country with a couple of your closest friends, but what an experience it was. Then, moving back to Wellington and them both come with me was such a refreshing change. It was so nice to finally be away from the hostel type scenario I’d been used to and move into a flat. Making something your own, away from home, may not always be the most glamourous thing, but it’s the independence that it comes with that makes it worth while.
So much of this year has been filled with spontaneity and firsts. But between working, travel and play there have of course been the down sides. Through all those I’ve constantly been reminded of how great my friends really are and that the ones that love you the most, will stick by you through thick and thin; despite all the mistakes you make along the way. Although there are always losses, what you’re left with is sometimes the clarity you needed all along. I have to give heaps of credit to my best friend and practically family member for helping me through too much for more than a decade – Jam. Nothing’s ever perfect, but I’m a firm believer in: you need to feel the lowest of lows, to appreciate the highest of highs.
